Ghidra is a software reverse engineering (SRE) framework created and maintained by the National Security Agency’s Research Bureau.
The framework includes a fully featured suite of high-end software analysis tools that allow users to analyze compiled code on a variety of platforms, including Windows, macOS and Linux. Features include disassembly, assembly, decompilation, drawing and scripting, among hundreds of other functions.
Ghidra supports multiple processor instruction sets and executable formats and can run in user interaction and automation modes. Users can also develop their own Ghidra extensions and/or scripts using Java or Python.
In support of the NSA’s cybersecurity mission, Ghidra aims to address the expansion and team issues of complex SRE work and provides a customizable and extensible SRE research platform.
The NSA has applied Ghidra SRE capabilities to a variety of issues, including analyzing malicious code and providing insights to SRE analysts seeking a better understanding of potential vulnerabilities in networks and systems.
