Voice actor Zeke Alton and a member of the SAG-AFTRA Interactive Media Agreement Negotiation Committee said it was “surprising” that Jones was involved in the process of copying his voice.
“If game companies, film companies provided consent and pay transparency to every actor like James Earl Jones did, we wouldn’t have struck out,” Alton said. “This proves that they can do it. They just don’t want to do this for people who they think don’t have the leverage to bargain for themselves.”

Voice actor Brock Powell said that if the voices of actors like Jones could be used permanently, the need for actors who specifically match the voices could be eliminated.
