Runway, an American AI video generation startup, has launched a new video generation model Gen-3 Alpha, which supports the generation of high-quality video for about 10 seconds.
Runway was founded in New York, USA at the end of 2018, and is one of the first companies to develop AI video generation models. However, after its first-generation and second-generation models were launched in February and June 2023 respectively, the former king was suppressed by his peers. A year later, Gen-3 Alpha was Runway’s counterattack. Gen-3 Alpha is characterized by the high precision of the video generated, it can understand and generate complex scenes and motion pictures, but also capable of a variety of film art techniques.
For example, in the following video animation, Gen-3 Alpha received a prompt saying,”A curly wig and sunglasses suddenly fell on his head, and the sad bald middle-aged man became happy.” The generated video not only accurately presents the movement path of the wigs and glasses, but also depicts the man’s emotions from sadness to joy very carefully.
Compared with Gen-2, Gen-3 Alpha has significant improvements in fidelity, consistency and sportsmanship, and Runway calls it an important step on the road to building a universal world model. As shown in the video below, Gen-3 Alpha can simulate colorful coral streets underwater. Not only do the buildings, animals and plants of the underwater streets restore the real world, but even the light and shadow effect of sunlight passing through the water is very realistic.
