Microsoft has introduced visual search options in Bing Image Search, which realizes the function of searching images by identifying the content in images and expanding the display of related image resources.
Microsoft plans to bring Bing’s image search to chat platforms to enhance user engagement and provide more comprehensive search results.
This feature is still in the testing stage. In order to ensure security and consistency and not affect the quality of daily chat, it will not be launched to all users this week. If everything goes well, users will be invited to test at a rate of 5%.
When users conduct specific searches, visual searches will be significantly faster than traditional image searches provided by Google and other competitors.
“It’s like searching through a large online catalog,” Microsoft said.
This feature currently provides nearly 50 photo libraries, ranging from consumer goods and tourist attractions to movies and music.
For example, if searching for “digital camera” in the Bing search engine/visual search mode, you will get a picture library composed of digital camera thumbnails. Users can filter and classify the searched pictures according to manufacturer, price and other parameters.
Hover the mouse or click on relevant pictures to get information about specific products. After the user modifies the search parameters, the pictures can be automatically rearranged.
For example, when searching for books, the photo libraries in the search results can be refined and classified by book author or category.
Google is the absolute leader in the online search and advertising market. According to market research firm Forrester estimates, by 2014, Google’s revenue from the U.S. market alone will exceed US$30 billion, with a mixed annual growth rate of around 15%.
