Seanime’s chase has become a “comfortable thing.”

Seanime is a free and open-source media server tool with a web interface and desktop application that allows you to manage your anime resource library in one place, support streaming of anime episodes through high-speed resolution services such as torrenting and Torbox/Real-Debrid, and read comics and realize data linkage with the anime list platform AniList – no need to host any film and television content yourself. The tool supports quick scanning of local resource files, automatic download of new episodes, offline playback with MPV, VLC and other players, and supports interface customization.
The core value of using this tool is: seamless integration and management of anime and comic resources, greatly saving time in resource organization; So that you can follow dramas and read comics anytime and anywhere in a compliant and convenient way.

  • There are a bunch of anime on the hard drive, and the file names are garbled
  • The new episode is over, but I forgot to see the first episode
  • Downloader, player, folder cut back and forth
  • The platform is taken down, the network disk is invalid, and it is difficult to make up for it

The Seanime project is basically for you.

What is Seanime?

Let’s start with a sentence of human words:

Seanime is an “anime center that you build at home”
It helps you download, organize, manage, and play anime, all in one web page.

You can understand it as:

  • 🎬 A bit like Plex / Jellyfin
  • 📺 But it is specially designed for anime
  • 🏠 And it’s completely self-hosted, and the data is yours alone

What is the problem?

Why is anime always so messy?

Anime is different from movies and American dramas:

  • There is a TV / OVA / theatrical version
  • There are seasons 1 and 2
  • There are special chapters and general episodes
  • Subtitle groups have a variety of names

Ordinary media library software doesn’t “understand anime”, but Seanime does.

It will help you:

  • Identify which show this is
  • Distinguish between seasons and episodes
  • Automatically organize into a clear directory structure

You don’t need to manually rename or change folders one by one.

Download → to check → watch, all in one

Traditional processes are usually:

Find the resource → Open the downloader → etc. Download → Manually drag the file → Open the player

Seanime’s idea is:

Find → under → to organize → playback, fully automatic

It can:

  • Docking BT / Magnet Download
  • It is automatically added to the anime library after the download is complete
  • Play it on the web page immediately

You only need to do one thing: click on the fan you want to see.

What does it look like?

The overall experience is very close to mainstream streaming platforms:

  • The cover wall of the drama
  • Click in to get the introduction + episodes
  • Click play and watch directly in the browser
  • Support subtitle switching

👉 Not like a “tool”, more like a “platform”

Have it all

This is the biggest difference between Seanime and business platforms.

  • ❌ It will not be taken off the shelves suddenly
  • ❌ Don’t be afraid of your account being blocked
  • ❌ It does not rely on network disk links

What you have is:

  • Local files
  • On-premises database
  • Own server/NAS

Whenever you want to see it, it’s there.

Is the threshold for use high?

To be honest, it’s not “fool-level”, but it’s not difficult either.

Generally, you need:

  • Will use Docker (or copy the command as tutoriald)
  • Have a device that is online for a long time (PC / NAS / server)
  • Basic network access

If you have used NAS and service, there is basically no pressure.
