Tongluo Mountain is the second mountain range in the parallel fold ridge and valley area in eastern Sichuan. Starting from the northern end of Leiyinpu Mountain in Dachuan District in the north, it runs from northeast to southwest, crossing Dazhou, Dazhu County, Linshui County and Changshou District, Yubei District, Nan ‘an District, Banan District, Qijiang District and other counties of Chongqing City, and ending at Tiantai Mountain on the north bank of the Qijiang River.
Between Sichuan and Chongqing, there is a mountain range called Mingyue Mountain. It has a total length of 232 kilometers and spans the eastern junction of Sichuan and Chongqing, runs through Chongqing and Sichuan, and has an altitude of 700- 1,000 meters. Although the mountain is not high, it once became a barrier for exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan and Chongqing in the past.
The Eastern Sichuan Parallel Mountains and Valleys, also known as the Eastern Basin Parallel Mountains and Valleys, cover the eastern part of Sichuan Province in China, most of Chongqing City and the western part of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Hubei Province. They cover an area of 53,000 square kilometers, all of which are neatly distributed northeast-southwest running mountains, with more than 30 mountains in total. The main mountain ranges in Linggu are Huaying Mountain, Tongluo Mountain, Mingyue Mountain, Tiefeng Mountain, Muli Mountain, Waduan Mountain, Fangdou Mountain, etc. from west to east.
The surface of the ridges and valleys is closely folded, with many anticlinal mountains and oblique valleys. The mountains can be more than 300 kilometers long, only 5-8 kilometers wide, and the relative height is less than 1000 meters. The valley is generally tens of kilometers wide. The ridge and valley terrain causes multiple parallel narrow plains to appear in the area, which has a significant impact on population distribution, transportation planning, etc.
