Account information

• Personal Checking account, no card. If you need a physical card, you need to go to the United States to apply for it, and you can open accounts with many banks in the United States: November 2018 U.S. bank account opening record (B1/B2 tourist visa).
• If the billing address is the United States, you can activate the Zelle function, that is, a small real-time transfer system between US banks, but you cannot use the Zelle function if the billing address is China.
• Personal online banking can only check the balance and transaction records, and cannot make online transfers; You can send a wire transfer form to the bank by fax or email, and after the bank verifies it, it will be wired to the domestic bank.
• You can apply for a checkbook, which needs to be applied for by calling the Cathay Bank account manager in the United States, and you can receive the checkbook in about February.
• The account supports ACH credit, so you can withdraw money from PayPal and receive payments from advertising networks such as CJ. After receiving the money, write a check to your family, and your family can take the check to collect it in a domestic bank, which is very convenient.

My application process is as follows:

Appointment by phone

Call Bank of Suzhou (0512-69868023, 69868430) to make an appointment, the bank only handles one witness account opening business every working day, so the appointment time will be longer. I called to make an appointment on March 18, and the time was set for May 14.

Preparation of materials

• Passport: No U.S. visa required
• 2 months of bank turnover: Remember to only play 2 months of turnover, if there is more, it will not work, you have to follow the bank’s requirements. I didn’t care about playing for 3 months, and I was told that it wouldn’t work, but fortunately, Bank of Suzhou is located on Bank Street, which is very convenient to replay the flow.
• ID card

You only need to bring the original document, and the bank account manager will help you copy and print it.

Transportation

I am based in Wuhan, so I chose to travel by bullet train, from Hankou Station to Suzhou Station, the whole journey is 5 hours, and you can see the subway station when you arrive

Take Metro Line 4 to Leqiao Station to Line 1, go to Nanshi Street, the whole journey takes about 30 minutes, and the fare is 4 yuan. Suzhou’s subway is still good, although it is a bit old, but the setting is very humane, using separate seats instead of benches, which puts an end to the uncivilized phenomenon of one person occupying several positions. Just remember that the seats on both sides are reserved for the elderly, weak, sick and disabled, and remember to reserve them for those in need. After leaving the station, you can walk for about 5-10 minutes to reach the Hudong Branch of Bank of Suzhou.

It should be noted that the official website of Bank of Suzhou introduces that there are two outlets that can handle witness account opening business, but the business department of Bank of Suzhou Suzhou Branch can no longer handle witness account opening business, and can only go to Bank of Suzhou Hudong Branch to handle it.

The account manager is very nice, beautiful people, gentle voice, and most importantly, the service attitude is very good! In fact, there was a lot of other information that needed to be entered into English, and the manager directly helped me do it for me. The process after that is very simple, sign a few times and reply to a few questions:

• What is your mother’s last name?
• Your family’s main source of income?
• What is the purpose of opening an account?
• Where is your bank chosen?

The first and second questions are filled in truthfully, the purpose of opening an account, and the account manager suggests writing travel; The account opening bank was also chosen in Los Angeles at the suggestion of the account manager.

Then there was boredom waiting, so I started playing with my phone. To avoid embarrassment, the account manager would say to me every once in a while, “Sorry, please be patient.” The processing started at 10 o’clock and ended at about half past 11, during which the account manager was interrupted to handle other business twice, which was delayed for a period of time.

Account activation

In about two weeks, the bank account information will be sent to your reserved email, and it can be activated by depositing 2,000 dollars, and the paper information will be a little later. After receiving the account information, please deposit money to activate it in time, if it is not activated within 40 days, the account will be automatically canceled.

Related fees

Bank of Suzhou will charge an account opening fee of 200 yuan, which is in cash.

After the bank account is opened, a monthly management fee of $15 will be charged for account balances below $2,000.

By confirming with the Shanghai office of Cathay Bank, after the account is activated, if the balance is less than $2,000 on any day, a management fee of $15 will be immediately deducted, and the bank girl explained that it is best to deposit $2,100.

Other

• The account opening pass rate is high, and the account manager revealed that she has not encountered any rejection of her application so far.
• After handling the witness account opening business, the account manager will ask you to ask the lobby manager to open a Suzhou bank account, and the conditions for opening this account are quite high: Suzhou people or temporary residence permits and social security can be opened. But if you are a Cathay Pacific customer, outsiders can also handle it, which feels like a VIP. But this card didn’t seem to have any effect, so I chose not to open it.
