The new long-term residence visa is the recent rising star in Thailand’s visa industry-LTR VISA (Long-Term Resident Visa), which places high requirements on the applicant’s personal comprehensive qualities.

To summarize briefly, LTR visas are only open to three categories of foreigners-wealthy people, retired employees and highly skilled technical experts.

To meet the “rich man” criterion, three conditions need to be met.

  • First, globally, all individuals have assets of no less than US$1 million;
  • Second, globally, all individuals have assets of no less than US$1 million;
  • The third is to invest in assets of no less than US$500,000 in Thailand (unlimited forms).

Retirees must be 50 years old or older, have an annual personal income of no less than US$80,000, and if the annual income is less than US$80,000, they can invest no less than US$250,000 in assets in Thailand.

The requirements for highly skilled technical experts are to have more than 5 years of relevant experience in the field of application, personal annual income of not less than US$80,000, and proof of having joined a large listed company.

 Specific steps for visa processing

When traveling to Thailand, there are two options: electronic visa and visa on arrival.

Electronic signature processing

E-visa e-visa requires passing through Thailand’s e-visa official websitehttps://www.thaievisa.go.thOnline processing.

After registering an account on the official website, you need to fill out the form and upload materials online. Depending on the purpose of travel, the materials required may change.

Take the most common travel visa as an example, the required materials are:

  • Photos taken by the applicant in the past six months;
  • Passport or travel document valid for not less than 6 months;
  • Proof of travel from Thailand (full payment of ticket);
  • Proof of sufficient funds (20000 baht per person, 40000 baht per family).

The advantages of electronic visas are that they are cheap, convenient, and there is no queue after landing, but you need to apply early before traveling.

Arrival visa processing

If you want to go on a casual trip (you don’t have time to apply for an electronic visa), then applying for a visa on arrival is the best choice.

The VOA fee for a visa-on-arrival visa is 2000 baht, and the green channel (fast channel) is 2200 baht.

After landing at the airport, you need to queue up, and the queuing time ranges from a few minutes to a few hours. To apply for a visa, you need to prepare:

  • Personal passport;
  • Application form for visa on arrival;
  • Hotel confirmation form;
  • Round-trip air ticket itinerary;
  • 2000 THB visa fee;
  • A two-inch ID photo of a person on a white background.

Currently, Thailand visa on arrival is divided into electronic visa on arrival and visa on arrival. For electronic visa on arrival, you need to visit Thailand’s official electronic visa on arrival official websitehttps://www.evisathailand.com/cn/Apply according to the procedure.
