Google will preview artificial intelligence to take over personal computers by the end of the year
Google plans to preview artificial intelligence technology that will take over web browsers for tasks such as research and shopping. According to people familiar with the matter, Google plans to release its next-generation flagship Gemini large-scale language model to showcase the product as early as December this year. The project is code-named “Project Jarvis.” These plans are only tentative and may change. The tool is designed to help users “automate daily web tasks” by taking screenshots, parsing content, and automatically clicking buttons or entering text. In the current state, there will be a few seconds between the tool performing different operations.

Saudi Aramco’s venture capital arm allocates $100 million for artificial intelligence investment
Saudi Aramco’s venture capital arm has allocated US$100 million to invest in artificial intelligence start-ups, hoping to accelerate Saudi Arabia’s emergence as a more competitive force in the global artificial intelligence field. Wa ‘ed Ventures has appointed an advisory committee of former employees of U.S. companies such as Meta and Amazon to explore early investments in the space. The company said the funds will be put into use over the next three years. “This investment will not only inspire local entrepreneurs, but will also support the localization of global talent,” Anas Algatani, acting CEO of Vaid, said in a statement on Sunday. Saudi Arabia aims to make itself one of the top 15 countries in artificial intelligence, while oil giant Aramco’s $500 million venture capital arm has doubled its investment in artificial intelligence this year.

Meta is developing an AI search engine

According to The Information, Zuckerberg’s Meta Platforms is developing an artificial intelligence (AI) search engine. Use its AI robot chat tool to grab information from the Internet and provide it to users. Meta is trying to reduce its reliance on Microsoft’s Bing and Google.
Meta Company in the United States is developing an artificial intelligence search engine to reduce its reliance on Google and Microsoft. The search engine will provide AI-generated current affairs search summaries in the Meta AI chat robot. The Meta AI robot built into Instagram and Facebook currently uses Google and Microsoft Bing to answer questions about recent news and events. This may eventually change because Meta’s web crawler was spotted roaming the Internet months ago. A team at the company has been working for about eight months to build an information database for its chatbot. Last week, Meta also announced a multi-year agreement with Reuters to allow its chatbot to use Reuters news articles when answering questions.

Open Source Initiative: Open Source AI must disclose its training data
The Open Source Initiative (OSI) has released the official definition of “open” artificial intelligence. OSI has long set industry standards for the composition of open source software, but artificial intelligence systems include elements that are not covered by traditional licenses, such as model training data. Now, for an AI system to be considered a true open source system, it must provide: details of the data used to train the AI so that others can understand and recreate it; complete code used to build and run the AI; and settings and weights during training to help the AI produce corresponding results.
This definition directly challenges Meta’s Llama, which is widely promoted as the largest open source AI model. Llama is available for download and use by the public, but its commercial use is restricted. It does not provide access to training data, which makes it inconsistent with OSI’s freedom of unlimited use, modification, and sharing standards.
