Google launches customized AI chat bot for Gemini subscribers

Google has launched a customized AI chatbot called “Gems” for use by Gemini subscribers that allows users to create personalized assistants to complete various tasks, such as fitness coaching and cooking. Users can define Gems ‘personality and expertise with simple instructions. The chatbots were initially unveiled at the I/O conference in May and include prefabricated options such as study coaches and coding partners. The launch of mobile and desktop platforms in more than 150 countries/regions is aimed at Gemini Advanced, Business and Enterprise users. The move is designed to compete with OpenAI’s customized chatbots product, which allows users to share chatbots through a dedicated store.

After six months of improvements and tweaks, Google has announced that it will restart image generation capabilities for its Gemini AI project. It is first open to users using the Gemini Premium English service. In addition, corporate users will soon be able to use the feature, and Google plans to open the technology to all the public in the near future.

Previously, this feature was initially suspended due to racial issues, but now Google has optimized the system. Although errors may still occur after functionality is restored, Google promises to actively address these issues and ensure the safe and responsible use of technology.

Google is reintroducing the ability to generate images of people through its Gemini AI chatbot. Previously, the feature was suspended earlier this year due to concerns about inaccurate portrayals of history. The feature will be available in early access versions to Gemini Advanced, Business and Enterprise users in English within a few days. This upgrade leverages Imagen 3, Google’s latest text-to-image generator, capable of creating a variety of visual effects from realistic landscapes to textured paintings.

The reason for temporarily suspending image generation was problems such as the Nazis who generated racial diversity. As Imagen 3 was launched earlier this month via AI Test Kitchen, it now includes built-in security guarantees designed to improve accuracy compared to other models. It is worth noting that Gemini will restrict the generation of real images of public figures or content involving minors and violence.

Google’s goal is to further expand this feature to cover more user groups and languages, while continuing to improve the tool based on initial user feedback.
