Added terminal AI command generation function
The latest release of IDEs v2024.2 by JetBrains introduces a new Beta version of the terminal. The terminal integrates the AI Assistant plug-in, allowing users to describe commands in natural language, and AI automatically generates corresponding instructions. Users can activate AI mode using the “+” shortcut key on macOS or the “Ctrl + ” shortcut key on Windows and Linux. The AI command generation feature considers contextual information, including previous commands and output, operating system and shell, to improve the accuracy of generated commands.
The new terminal also enhances the ability to customize prompt words. Users can choose a single-line or double-line prompt style in the settings to adapt to personal space utilization or readability needs.
The new terminal now has AI-driven command generation capabilities. Users of the JetBrains AI Assistant plug-in can use AI to generate commands directly within the terminal. To use this feature, press (macOS) or Ctrl+(Windows and Linux) to switch to AI mode in the terminal, describe your command in natural language, and then submit the request. The AI assistant creates the corresponding command, which appears in the prompt for immediate execution or further editing. Taking into account previous commands and their output, operating system and shell, AI command generation in the new terminal is context-aware, improving the accuracy of the results.
The 2024.1 version of the JetBrains IDE introduces new terminals as an opt-in feature that can be accessed through “Settings/Preferences”|”Enable this function. tool| terminal| Enable a new terminal. Although feedback is being actively collected and improvements are being made, the new terminal is still in Beta.
